The Concept…

The term “miniature” originally comes form the latin word minium [1], the decoration or illustration in red lead pigment that was done on the first letters in Medieval manuscripts (also known as “illuminations”).

The miniature has been used throughout history to decorate everyday belongings, parts of buildings, manuscripts and even one’s own person. In short, to answer the need for mankind to decorate its surroundings and thus confer an aesthetic and philosophical value to detail and small objects.

La palabra miniatura tiene sus orígenes en minium[1], la ornamentación o ilustración en pigmento rojo que se hacía sobre las primeras letras en los manuscritos de la Edad Media (conocido también bajo el nombre de “iluminado”).
La miniatura ha sido utilizada por el hombre a lo largo de la historia para adornar objetos cotidianos, partes de edificios, manuscritos y hasta su propia persona. En definitiva, para responder a la necesidad del hombre de ornamentar lo que le rodea y conferir así un valor estético y filosófico al detalle y a las cosas pequeñas.
